FPL Rates Will Go Down in May

The bill of an average residential customer will go down by about $3 a month.

Florida Power & Light customers will soon start paying a little less on their power bills.

State regulators on Thursday approved lowering FPL rates starting in May.

The bill of an average residential customer will go down by about $3 a month. FPL estimates that the typical business customers should see a reduction anywhere from 3-6 percent.

FPL is Florida's largest utility and has approximately 4.7 million customers.

The lower bills are due primarily to a projected decrease in natural gas prices.
