Family Asks Public for Help to Find Hit-and-Run Driver Who Killed Man on Scooter

The family of a man who was struck and killed while riding his scooter in Miami earlier this month is asking for the public's help to find the driver.

Jean Carlos Hernandez-Trujillo was riding his scooter in Downtown Miami when witnesses say someone driving a silver Mazda ran a red light and struck him.

The driver drove two blocks with his body on the back of the car then fled the scene.

"It's a human being, it's not a dog, it's a human being," Miami Police Det. Willie Moreno said. "This person obviously has no conscience."

The young man was visiting from Venezuela.

"I am angry because this person continued driving with the body of Jean Carlos on the top of the car, so this is not nice, he has to stop and help Jean Carlos, why did he continue driving two blocks?" cousin Marilis Lopez said.

Police are still looking for the driver and are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
