12-Year-Old Girl Killed, 7 Hurt in Crash in NW Miami-Dade

A 12-year-old girl was killed and seven other people were injured in a rollover crash in northwest Miami-Dade Tuesday morning.

The crash happened near the intersection of Northwest 163rd Street and North Miami Avenue, Miami-Dade Police officials said. A Honda SUV was traveling westbound on 163rd Street, a Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound and a Nissan Maxima was going south on North Miami Avenue when the three vehicles collided, police said.

Footage showed three vehicles were involved in the crash, with the body of the victim covered next to a badly-damaged Honda CRV.

Family members identified the deceased 12-year-old girl as Carelle Philogene. Her aunt and uncle were driving her to school at the time of the crash.

Police said the two adults who were in the CRV with the girl were taken to Aventura Hospital.

Of the seven people injured, three passengers in the Nissan Maxima sustained minor injuries and were treated and released from the scene, officials said. The two occupants in the Nissan Altima were transported to the hospital in stable condition.
