“The Kids Are Inside!”: Broward Father Saves Family From Burning Home

A father jumped into action to save his wife and four children from a house fire in Pompano Beach.

The fire occurred overnight on Sunday in the area of Southwest 9th Court and 10th Drive.

Some of the children were sleeping in bunk beds when the father opened a door and smelled smoke.

Ryan Rich acted immediately.

"I was able to get her, pull her down and grab my two younger ones off the bed and get them back out," said Rich.

He says he heard his fiancée calling for help in the distance as he was walking home from work.

"I hear my girl, she is running out, screaming 'Help! Help! The house is on fire, somebody help me, the kids are inside," said Rich.

Rich said he charged into the house as quickly as he could, witnessing his worst nightmare.

"The AC was on fire. We sleep next to it," said Rich.

His wife pulled out their three month old, as he rescued his other children ages 6, 2 and 1.

"My number one priority was to protect my family," he said.

The American Red Cross responded to the incident to provide aid.

"Everything is gone," said Rich.

A GoFundMe was started to help the family. Donations can be made by clicking here.

Aside from some coughing, no one suffered any injuries.

Pompano Beach Fire investigators are now working to pinpoint a cause.
