Fiery Crash Kills Three Young Men Near Seven Mile Bridge

An explosive head-on collision between a pickup truck and a Publix tractor trailer left three young men dead and one critically injured early Saturday morning near the Seven Mile Bridge.

The three dead are Joshua Creasman, 20, who was driving; David Williams, 17; and Devon Venables, 20; all of Okeechobee.

The fourth victim, Cody Mitzelfeld,  19, was transported to a Miami hospital in critical condition.

The incident occurred around 3 a.m. at Mile Marker 38 on U.S. 1, two miles south of the south end of the Seven Mile Bridge.

The pickup truck was headed north. The tractor trailer heading south.

The pickup crossed the center line, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Beer cans were found in the bed of the pickup truck although it is not clear if alcohol played a role in the accident.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Dominick Vaccaro, suffered minor injuries.

β€œIt was an explosion,” said a witness from Miami who was headed south, but had to wait several hours for the highway to reopen, according to the Keynoter newspaper.
