Fire Breaks Out at Brickell City Center: Miami Fire Rescue

Miami firefighters responded to a fire at Brickell City Center Wednesday, officials said.

Officials said they responded to reports of heavy flames and smoke coming from a balcony on the 9th floor of the east tower of the center at South Miami Avenue and Southwest 8th Street.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control. Officials said it appeared a generator that was being used on the 9th floor caught fire, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No injuries were reported.

Swire Properties, the developer of Brickell City Center, released a statement on the incident.

"At approximately 3 p.m. today a small generator caught fire on the 9th floor balcony of the East, Miami hotel. The fire remained outside of the hotel and was quickly brought under control," the statement read. "Following advice from the fire department and building security, guests and staff have since returned to the hotel, which is fully operational. The investigation is ongoing."
