Fire Captain Who Had Sex in Car on Duty Resigns

A north Florida fire rescue captain has resigned after an investigation revealed he had sex in a county-owned vehicle while on duty Thanksgiving Day.

The Florida Times-Union reports Bryan Edwards resigned earlier this month after meeting with Nassau County Manager Ted Selby. He faced being fired for the incident that began with an early morning 911 call regarding people having sex inside a fire department vehicle.

Selby says the fire department's chief and assistant chief recommended disciplinary action against Edwards because he had several violations of policies and procedures.

The 911 caller told the dispatcher the man's Chevy Tahoe was parked in the entrance to his hunting camp. He provided a license plate number.

Selby says Edwards was questioned during the investigation and denied the incident took place.
