Fire Rescue Crews Save Children Locked in SUV at Boca Raton Gas Station

A mother is thanking first responders who saved her trapped children from a SUV on Thursday at a gas station in Boca Raton.

NBC affiliate WPTV-TV reported the incident took place at the Sandalfoot Plaza off U.S. 441, with the woman saying that one of her two kids was holding her wallet when the lock key was pushed.

“I was about ready to break my window to get them out," the mother said, adding that the air conditioner was running at the time for her 17-month-old and six-month-old trapped inside.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews arrived at the scene and were able to break open the driver’s side door handle to open the vehicle.

No one was injured and the mother said her children would celebrate the only way they know how – with a nap.
