Fired Man Sets Fire To Ex-Boss's House: Police

Police say that shortly after Damion Haywood got fired on his 40th birthday, he set fire to the house and truck belonging to his former boss.

According to Daytona Beach police, 79-year-old Willie Irven says he fired Haywood on Tuesday for always showing up for work "high."

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports a witness told police he saw a man beating on Irven's truck with a gas can. Investigators found a shattered window and three punctured tires. The house had also been doused with gasoline and set on fire, but authorities say it didn't spread because it has asbestos siding.

Police say Haywood confessed to starting the fire and damaging the truck.

He's been arrested 23 times since 1998, serving prison time twice. He remains jailed on $25,000 bail.
