Officials say a 16-year-old Manatee County, Florida boy kidnapped and molested a 5-year-old girl in his backyard.
The Bradenton Herald reports the incident happened in a Manatee neighborhood Saturday night.
A report from the Manatee County Sheriff's Office says the 16-year-old grabbed the victim when she was walking by his home. She was groped but uninjured.
The reports says the girl escaped and ran to tell her mother what happened. Deputies also say the boy battered his mother earlier in the day.
The boy has been charged with lewd and lascivious molestation, kidnapping and domestic battery. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
