Florida Brothers Sentenced for Food Stamp Fraud

According to court documents, the brothers used their storefront to give food stamp recipients cash in exchange for their benefits, charging the benefit debit cards hefty fees.

Two South Florida brothers have been sentenced for their role in a multi-million dollar food stamp scam.

The brothers are 52 year-old Ali Jaber and 42 year-old Hadi Jaber of Palm Springs in Palm Beach County. They were sentenced Thursday to more than five years in prison and agreed to pay $4 million in restitution. The brother previously pleaded guilty to crimes including conspiracy and bankruptcy fraud.

According to court documents, the brothers used their storefront to give food stamp recipients cash in exchange for their benefits, charging the benefit debit cards hefty fees.

Authorities say the brothers redeemed over $6 million in benefits. The brothers admitted many charges were fraudulent.

Court documents showed they wired hundreds of thousands of dollars to Lebanon and Canada and bought a home in South Florida with the proceeds.
