Zombie Alert! Florida City Warns Residents of Power Outage, Undead

Citing a mistake, officials said zombie activity has not been confirmed in the area

An alert sent to residents of one Florida city warned of a power outage and, wait for it, zombies.

Yep, Lake Worth officials sent out a message during a power outage Sunday that also warned of a "zombie alert for Lake Worth and Terminus." The Palm Beach Post reports that could have been a reference to the city in the zombie TV show "The Walking Dead."

The alert warned that less than 7,380 customers were involved due to extreme zombie activity.

The city posted a Facebook message saying the alert was a mistake and that they are investigating. Oh, and they confirmed there is not zombie activity in the area.

"Power outage and zombie alert for residents of Lake Worth and Terminus. There are now far less than seven thousand three hundred and eighty customers involved due to extreme zombie activity. Restoration time uncertain," the alert read.

The Palm Beach Post reports power was restored within 30 minutes.

City spokesman Ben Kerr later posted a Facebook message saying officials were investigating the bogus alert and that he wanted to "reiterate that Lake Worth does not have any zombie activity currently."
