Florida Gov. Rick Scott Refusing to Disclose Financial Information

Florida Gov. Rick Scott is refusing to turn over financial information that could answer whether he is flouting a state ethics law.

Lawyers for Democrat George Sheldon want Scott to turn over detailed information about his various holdings. They also want information on investments controlled by First Lady Ann Scott.

Scott's attorneys maintain the information is confidential. A spokeswoman for Scott called the request a "frivolous partisan attack."

Sheldon unsuccessfully ran last year for attorney general. He filed a lawsuit that in October that contended that Scott was failing to report his actual wealth as required by Florida law.

The lawsuit asks a judge to declare that Scott is breaking the state's financial disclosure law.

Scott's lawyers have asked that the lawsuit be thrown out.
