Florida Gov. Rick Scott's Job Approval Up to 43%

Quinnipiac poll shows support for Scott increasing

Florida Gov. Rick Scott's approval rating is improving, though not to the point that it's likely to deter any potential challengers in 2014.

A Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday shows 43 percent of voters approve of the job Scott is doing and 40 percent have a favorable opinion of him.

While those numbers aren't sizzling, they are better than the 36 percent job approval that voters gave him three months ago. Then, 33 percent had a favorable view of the Republican governor.

The poll shows Scott is still trailing former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist in a head-to-head matchup. Crist is widely expected to seek his old job as a Democrat. The poll shows 47 percent would support Crist to 37 percent for Scott. The margin of error was plus/minus 2.9 percentage points.
