U.S. marshals and police in northwest Georgia are searching for an inmate they say overpowered a guard on a bus that was transporting prisoners from Florida to Indiana.
Authorities say Sean Killion, 42, fought with a guard and escaped around 7 p.m. Wednesday during a stop for food at a Pizza Hut in Cartersville, about 40 miles northwest of Atlanta.
Indian River County Sheriff's Office records show that Killion was previously arrested in Florida on probation violation and drug charges. WSB-TV in Atlanta reports that the private prison transportation company was taking him back to the Indianapolis area.
Officials told WSB-TV that Killion has a history of escaping police custody.
