A Florida Keys woman is facing a child cruelty charge after authorities say she hit and stomped an 8-year-old boy for putting dirty laundry in a dryer.
Marina Vega, 27, was booked into jail Wednesday, Monroe County Sheriff's Office officials said. She remained behind bars Thursday and it was unknown if she's hired an attorney.
The boy told detectives Vega hit him in the face and on the side and stomped his stomach, authorities said. He said she was wearing flip flops and said "thank you God not normal shoes because it would have hurt more," officials said.
The sheriff's office learned of the case from the Department of Children and Families, officials said.
