A Florida man is lucky to be alive after ending up in the emergency room after having his neck sliced open by a piece of pool furniture.

Charles Lee was moving the furniture at his home near Bradenton when a gust of wind knocked him in the pool. At the same time, the leg of the chair he was moving pierced his throat – and missed the main artery by just two centimeters.

"The doctor just couldn't believe I was in this situation," said Lee according to NBC affiliate WPTV-TV. "I have a couple guardian angels looking over me. That's in fact what the ER doctor said too.”

A guest at Lee’s home at a party held by his wife applied pressure to the wound until paramedics arrived and took him to an area hospital, where he received 12 stitches and is on antibiotics while sharing his story so other people can be cautious.

"[The wind] had the power to lift me, 200-plus pounds, plus a 10-15 pound lounger like a rag doll and into the pool," said Lee. "I am standing here today, 5 days later, and on a healing process right now.”
