A Palm Beach County retiree has been jailed after police saw he robbed a bank

A Palm Beach County retiree has been jailed after police saw he robbed a bank.

Russell Cooper is 77 years old and only gets around with the help of a walker.

Boynton Beach police say he was angered after showing up at a PNC branch Friday and being told his account was closed for lack of funds.

Authorities say he then cornered a bank manager with a pocket knife and demanded $130. Cooper was shot with a Taser by a police officer after allegedly threatening to stab both the officer and the manager.

It wasn't immediately known if Cooper had an attorney. Jail records showed Cooper was charged with robbery with a firearm and kidnapping in the commission of a felony. He was being held on $20,000 bond Tuesday.
