The Florida Department of Transportation wants to make travel easier for the estimated 4.8 million motorists expected to hit the roads this holiday travel season.
FDOT has rolled out a new iPhone app called 511.
Much like FDOT’s 511 travel information number and fl511.com site, the app is designed to help travelers better plot their routes and brace them for current conditions.
The 511 app will link you to traffic information on interstate highways and toll roads, as well as provide commuter travel times, public transit and airport updates, and even offers voice-activated and touch-tone navigation options.
The app already has some 25,000 downloads. It’s free and available at the ITunes App Store.
