Former Opa-locka Police Officer Sentenced to 364 Days in Jail

A former Opa-locka Police officer convicted of false imprisonment and tampering with a witness was sentenced Thursday to 364 days in jail, according to the Miami Herald.

However, German Bosque won't be heading to jail just yet. Bosque will remain on bond as he appeals his conviction.

German Bosque learned his fate following his conviction in June for illegally handcuffing and detaining a man at the Opa-locka Police station after the man tried to file a complaint. He was found not guilty on a battery charge.

The man attempted to file the complaint on Aug. 3, 2011, after Bosque allegedly punched him while responding to a domestic call, authorities said. The man was held against his will and not allowed to file the complaint, authorities said.

Bosque was later fired by Opa-locka Police in October 2012.
