Fort Lauderdale Air Show Takes Off This Weekend

Thousands of people are making their way to South Florida this weekend for the Fort Lauderdale Air Show.

The air show is happening Saturday and Sunday along Fort Lauderdale Beach from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Some of the fighter jets participating were already at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport as preps were underway Friday.

The air show is making its return to South Florida following the reconstruction of A1A after Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

This year's show includes a triple headliner with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the Canadian Air Force Snowbirds and the Breitling Jet Team. It's the first time all three teams have performed together in South Florida.

With the air show in the sky, there will be some traffic delays on the ground. A1A will be closed from Sunrise Boulevard to Northeast 14th Court, and anyone who needs to get through that area will have to take Sunrise around the closure.
