A Fort Lauderdale man was arrested for raping a minor while she was sleeping, officials said.
Zachary Mueller, 31, met the victim Monday during a funeral for a mutual friend's father, according to a Sunrise Police Department report.
During the funeral, Mueller invited the victim to his house in Sunrise. When she went over, he gave her alcohol and she later fell asleep, the report said. Officials said Mueller and his girlfriend slept in the next room.
When the victim woke up, she found Mueller engaging in sexual activity with her, authorities said. She told him to stop, but instead he raped her, according to the report.
"The victim panicked and froze, however she wept during the entirety of the unlawful sexual activity," the report said.
The next day the girl called Mueller and arranged to meet with him. Little did he know, the meeting was to be recorded by detectives, according to the report.
On Thursday, the two met at a location in Sunrise. As they were talking, officials recorded Mueller saying, "I'm sorry for raping you," the report said.
Mueller was taken into custody and charged with sexual battery of a victim over 12-years-old with physical force. Online jail records show he is being held on $5,000 bond.
