Fort Lauderdale Names Assistant Police Chief as Interim Leader

The city of Fort Lauderdale now knows who will be the interim police chief come New Year’s Day.

Assistant Chief Rick Maglione was named to the position and will take over the department come January 1st. He replaces Frank Adderley, who recently announced he was stepping down to take a position with the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Maglione has been with the FLPD since 1992, moving up through various promotions before becoming Assistant Chief in 2015.

“Rick Maglione has served the City of Fort Lauderdale with distinction for 24 years,” said City Manager Lee Feldman.  “We are confident he will do an outstanding job as Interim Police Chief protecting life and property and ensuring the safety and protection of our residents and visitors.”

The city will continue their search for a permanent chief.
