Fort Lauderdale Police Investigating 21-Year-Old's Suspicious Death

Fort Lauderdale Police said they’re investigating the suspicious death of a 21-year-old man on Oct. 9.

Carlton Spear died sometime before 8 a.m. that morning, and police officers found his body in the backyard of 512 NW 19th Ave., police said.

Zenola Reed, who lives next door, said her husband spotted Spear’s body and then called over to take a look. She then called 911.

Reed now has the gruesome image of a dead man seared into her memory. She said Spear had no pants on and appeared to be wearing a wig.

“For the first three or four nights I couldn't sleep, I could not sleep, every time I close my eyes I could just see this body – lying back there in the backyard,” she said.
