1 Dead, 1 Critical After Shooting, SWAT Standoff at Fort Lauderdale Home

A suspect was found dead inside a Fort Lauderdale home Thursday, hours after a SWAT team responded to the scene for a man who was shot nearby, officials said.

The incident happened in the area of 2800 Northeast 57th Street, Fort Lauderdale Police officials said.

Officials said a man was taken as a trauma alert to a local hospital after suffering from gunshot wounds.

The SWAT team responded for a possible barricaded suspect and after an hours-long standoff, entered the home and found the 59-year-old suspect dead inside, officials said.

The 22-year-old victim remained in critical condition Thursday evening, officials said.

Officials haven't released the identities of the people involved.
