Weeks after three Broward County deputies were arrested for providing inmates with drugs, cell phones and even sex, a fourth person has been arrested for smuggling contraband into the facility.
Carline Jean, 34, was arrested Tuesday on charges of introducing contraband into a detention facility and use of a two way device to facilitate a felony.
It's unknown whether Jean was working at the jail or what she's accused of bringing into the detention center.
Jean was being held on $75,000 bail Wednesday.
Just last month, three guards were caught in what authorities said was a monthslong sting to nab double-dealing deputies in the Broward jail system.
Deputies Salisa Pascoe, 29, Kiara Monet Walker, 21, and Roderick Lorenzo Lopez, 29, were arrested on several charges
Pascoe, a six-year veteran at the jail, is charged with one count of sexual misconduct with an inmate, two counts of using a cell phone to facilitate a felony and one count of introducing contraband to a detention facility.
Walker and Lopez are both charged with official misconduct and introduction of a cell phone to a detention facility.
Pascoe allegedly admitted to investigators that she had sex with an inmate in a jail storage room, and an investigation revealed she had arranged to smuggle marijuana into the jail for inmates.
Pascoe might not have been caught had the inmate she'd given a cell phone to shared it with another inmate, according to an arrest report. The inmate who wasn't allowed to use the phone allegedly ratted Pascoe out.
Walker was nabbed when an inmate she'd allegedly given a cell phone was caught with it and confessed that Walker had given him several items, including food and batteries, in exchange for $800.
Walker was also found to have been sending hundreds of text messages to another inmate, Deitrick Johnson, who somehow had a cell phone among other confiscated items.
Johnson was convicted earlier this month in the armed robbery of three pharmacies in 2007.
Some of the text messages between Johnson and Walker talked about having sex in his cell. In others, Johnson showed his romantic side.
"Kiara walker im [sic] heavy in love with you," Johnson wrote in one text.
