Take a ride down Jamaican history – through music. The Pompano Beach Cultural Center is hosting an “American Roots of Jamaican Music: The Legacy” event this Sunday evening from 7 – 9 p.m. The musical evening chronicles popular songs in Jamaica and the Americas from the mid-40s to present day. Jamaican guitarist and music educator Eugene Grey will lead the show packed with singers and dancers. More details here.

Sit, Stay and Chill -- With Your Dog

Last week NBC and Telemundo stations across the nation helped to clear the shelters, finding thousands of shelter animals forever homes. Now, it’s time to celebrate National Dog Day. Innergy Meditation in Miami Beach is inviting you to sit, stay and chill out with your pup. This Saturday from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., Innergy will be offering dog-friendly meditation. Miami Lyric Opera is showcasing Bizet’s masterpiece opera, Carmen. The classic theatrical tale is a tragic love story that has been recreated and remixed in many different styles and genres.
