Gas prices in Florida dropped an average of four cents last week but could easily climb back up.
As of Sunday, Florida drivers are paying an average price of $2.71 per gallon at the pump. In comparison, the state average from Sunday is 24 cents more than a month ago and 9 cents more than the same time last year, according to AAA.
In Miami-Dade, gas prices fell 2.6 cents per gallon in the past week – averaging $2.75. Gas prices are 24.7 cents higher than a month ago and 7.8 cents higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy.
In Broward County, prices are down 26.6 cents from last week but are up 2.7 cents from last month's average. Gas prices are down from 18.2 cents from last year's average, GasBuddy said.
The average in Florida remains 21 cents below the high of 2018 and 5 cents less than the highest daily average price so far this year.
"Florida drivers got a break from rising gas prices last week, but there could be a small uptick in the coming days," AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said in a statement. "Rising demand and refinery issues are keeping upward pressure on gas prices. It could be another couple of weeks before refineries return to full strength, and pump prices level out."
In Florida, the most expensive metropolitan cities for gas-getters are the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton with a $2.82 average; Naples with a $2.77 average; and Gainesville with a $2.76 average.

The least expensive Florida metropolitan markets are Pensacola at $2.65; the Melbourne-Titusville area at $2.66; and Punta Gorda at $2.66.
