    What to Know

    • No word was released on if the gator was able to swim to drier land.

Sometimes, even the biggest Florida resident wants to take time for a swim – and in some cases, that resident is a giant alligator in a pond during a rain storm.

NBC affiliate WFLA-TV shared the video from Robert Light Jr., who posted video of the reptile swimming around at an intersection in Pinellas Park earlier this week.

“I was wondering why people were out videotaping in the pouring rain and people backing up in the right turn lane that the gator was in,” Light Jr. posted on the social media site. “That’s when I saw it in passenger side coming towards me.”

No word was released on if the gator was able to swim to drier land.
