Woman Stabs Boyfriend's Foot in Self-Defense: Cops

Police say a woman stabbed her boyfriend in the foot in self defense after he kicked and beat her.

A Key Largo man was arrested and taken to jail Sunday for kicking and beating his live-in girlfriend, who retaliated by stabbing him in the foot, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.

Police received a call from a neighbor who lives around Kay Drive and Avenue A at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. The neighbor reported two people fighting, saying the man knocked the woman to the ground and was kicking and "stomping" her. The witness also said they saw her grab her cell phone to call for help, only to have it smashed by her boyfriend.

The couple was gone when deputies arrived but was found later near Avenue A and Village Drive while driving. The deputy saw the man throw his girlfriend to the ground and heard her screaming.

The girlfriend told deputies later that she and 31-year-old Jesus Galindo had been outside because she didn't want her three children to see them fighting. She revealed she was able to run back in the house and grab a steak knife to defend herself. According to the victim, Galindo tried to kick the knife out of her hand when it went through his foot.

Galindo was taken to the hospital for treatment. He was then booked for domestic battery and depriving the victim of the ability to call 911.
