Good Samaritans Help Victim of Palmetto Rollover Crash

A crash victim is lucky to be alive, thanks to two Good Samaritans who stopped to help him until paramedics arrived.

The man's SUV flipped about seven times before coming to a stop on the Palmetto near the exit to Miller Drive (Northwest 56th Street). The driver was on the ground, unconscious.

"I guess he woke up out of his slumber whatever and he hit his wheel and the car pretty much flipped about 50-feet," said Jimmi Hart, Good Samaritan.

Hart and Albert Gonzalez were both driving along the Palmetto when they saw the horrific scene, and stopped to help.

"I basically arrived just to get his vitals and stuff like that and to make sure he was alright," said Albert Gonzalez, Good Samaritan.

The driver eventually came to, but said he couldn't breathe. Gonzalez did what he could for the victim.

The group of Good Samaritans stayed with the victim while fire-rescue paramedics arrived. The men, all strangers, met on Monday for the first and probably last time.

"I just hope that, God forbid that happens to me, people would help me. That's all it is. It's nothing special," Hart said.

Authorities said the victim went to the hospital and was expected to make a full recovery.
