Gov. Scott in Miami-Dade for Zika Preparedness Meeting

Florida Gov. Rick Scott was in Miami Monday for a meeting with local officials about the continuing fight against the Zika virus.

Gov. Scott participated in a Zika preparedness roundtable with Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez and other officials.

Officials say 29 Zika cases have been reported in Florida so far in 2017, and while there are no longer "Zika Zones" in Miami-Dade Gov. Scott says it's all about awareness for residents.

"I know the state's going to do its part, the county's going to do their part, the city's going to do their part. We worked well together last year in dealing with the zones that we did have," Scott said. "But everybody's got to remember do their own precautions, no standing water, wear protective clothing, use bug repellent."
