Grandfather of Missing Girl Pleads to Hear From Her

Melaine Sharpe Ubiera has been missing Tuesday night

With tears in his eyes, Alfredo Sharpe just wants to hear from his 11-year-old granddaughter Melaine Sharpe Ubiera.

He hasn't seen her since she went to sleep Tuesday night.

"At least call me and say you are good, you are well," Sharpe pleaded.

Sharpe said he caught Melaine near the front door before she went to bed Tuesday night. He shut it and locked it. When he woke up Wednesday morning, she wasn't in her room and the front door was unlocked.

Police have been handing out fliers and searching the area looking for for her.

Her stepfather has been in her life since she was a baby. He said she is an honor roll student, but since her mother died last year, she's been depressed.

"It's something she kept in her. She really didn't cry," her stepfather Cildo Chavez said.

Sharpe said he thinks of Melaine like his daughter. She's lived with him since she was born and he just wants her back home, where she belongs.

"I am worried," her grandfather said. "That is part of my life."

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami Gardens Police at t 305-474-6473.
