Crews were working to put out a grass fire that broke out in Southwest Miami-Dade early Wednesday morning and quickly grew to hundreds of acres.
Miami Dade Fire Rescue and Florida Forestry Service officials have been working to contain the blaze west of Southwest 8th Street and 137th Avenue. They were able to put it out overnight, according to reports, before it flared up again around 3 a.m.
Officials say no structures have been damaged and no homes are at risk at this time.
As of Wednesday evening, the fire has burned 715 acres and is 40 percent contained.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue tweeted that residents nearby with respiratory issues should stay inside until conditions clear. No evacuations have been ordered but some nearby businesses decided to close for the day.
