Person Injured in Gravel Spill on I-95 in Miami-Dade: FHP

The incident happened about 5:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Miami Gardens Drive, officials say

Interstate 95 traffic was snarled for South Florida commuters early Friday, when a truck lost its load of gravel on the highway in Miami-Dade County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Because of the incident, three drivers lost control of their vehicles, the Highway Patrol said. A person in a car that crashed was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital,according to Highway Patrol spokesman Joe Sanchez. The person was listed in serious but stable condition, Sanchez said.

The incident happened about 5:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Miami Gardens Drive, Sanchez said. All northbound lanes were shut down following the incident, but they have since been reopened.

Aerial images showed state Department of Transportation workers cleaning up the mess before lanes were reopened.
