Teen Girl Struck Twice as Group of Kids Run From Gunfire in Opa-locka

A 15-year-old girl was shot twice in Opa-locka Wednesday night but she is expected to survive.

The Opa-locka police chief said a group of kids aged between 8 years to 16 years were walking down a street at about 8:30 p.m. when they heard gunshots and began to run.

It was not until they stopped running upon reaching a house decorated with Christmas lights that the 15-year-old girl realized she was shot.

"It's time to put the weapons down. It’s time to stop shooting harming or hurting one another," the chief said.
