Gulfstream Reopens Poker Room After Fish Tank Burst

The Sept. 2 water damage caused the park to close two floors and gambling areas

Gulfstream Park reopened its poker room Saturday after it was closed about one week ago when a 13,000-gallon fish tank burst.

The Sept. 2 water damage caused the park to close two floors and gambling areas. All of the fish were rescued.

"It's unfortunate we had to close five days, but we're very grateful to our guests for their patience and understanding," said Mike Couch, Gulfstream's Director of Gaming.

Couch said the park installed new carpet, walls, artwork and furniture in the room.

The park was financially effected on Labor Day but did remain open for simulcasting, shopping and dining.
