Gunman, Victims Named in Sweetwater Shooting

2nd victim in Sweetwater shooting in critical condition

Police have identified the gunman who shot and killed his estranged wife and wounded another man before turning the gun on himself in Sweetwater Tuesday.

Miguel Trujillo Garcia, 32, shot 27-year-old Layra Q. Gonzalez outside her home near 114th Avenue and West Flagler Street around 3 p.m., according to a report released Wednesday by Miami-Dade Police.

Garcia fled in his car, and after traveling several miles, began chasing another driver, identified as 41-year-old Osvel Jesus Cabrera.

When Cabrera struck another car near the intersection of Southwest 127th Avenue and Bird Road, Garcia opened fire, hitting Cabrera.

Garcia then drove to Southwest 109th Avenue and Coral Way, where he got out of the car and shot himself.

Both Garcia and Cabrera was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where Cabrera was in critical condition, police said. Barcia's condition is unknown.

Police haven't disclosed the relationship between Garcia and Cabrera.
