Gainesville Student Gets Perfect Score on AP Exam

Kevin Huang is one of only 15 students nationwide to earn a perfect score on the AP microeconomics exam.

A student from Gainesville's Buchholz High School earned a perfect score on an Advanced Placement microeconomics exam.

The Gainesville Sun reports 19-year-old Kevin Huang graduated from Buchholz last spring and is now a freshman at Yale University. Huang answered all multiple-choice questions correctly and earned the maximum number of points for each essay.

Of the more than four million AP exams taken nationwide, a mere 285 resulted in perfect scores, and of that, only 15 of those were in microeconomics - including Huang.

In a letter to the school's principal, College Board Senior Vice President Trevor Packer applauded Huang for his hard work and AP teacher Will Frazer for ``the ability to engage students and enable them to excel in a college-level course. Fifteen students received perfect scores on the exam.

Huang told the newspaper he's pleased with the accomplishment. He says he paid attention in class and took notes to prepare.

Huang took 20 AP classes.
