Heat Fall Short in Comeback Attempt

The Heat fought back from a large deficit in their 102-98 loss to the Clippers on Friday

The Miami Heat fought back before falling to the Los Angeles Clippers by a final score of 102-98 on Friday.

Los Angeles took a 14-point lead into the half and maintained most of the advantage in the third quarter. During the fourth quarter, Miami cut into the deficit even more. The Clippers however were able to hang on to a slim margin and close out the win.

With the loss, Miami is now 9-18 on the season and a dismal 4-9 at American Airlines Arena. During the current homestand, the Heat have gone 2-1 with three games remaining. The Boston Celtics, Orlando Magic and Los Angles Lakers are all scheduled to visit Miami in the coming days.

Goran Dragic put together a double-double with his 21 points and 11 assists. Dragic also added six rebounds and two steals in the loss. The guard was also clutch from the free-throw line, and made all five of his attempts.

Hassan Whiteside reached another double-double himself with 11 points and 17 rebounds. Whiteside also had two assists, two steals and a block.

Justise Winslow had a big day off the bench with 15 points, four rebounds and a steal. Winslow also added a three-pointer and showed no remaining rust from his missed time.

After a day off on Saturday, Miami will continue the homestand on Sunday against the Celtics.
