The Heat announced details of their plans to honor Dwyane Wade in his final regular season home game

The Miami Heat revealed the special ways they will honor Dwyane Wade in his final regular season home game on Wednesday.

Wade's final scheduled home game will come on April 9th against the Philadelphia 76ers. Miami remains alive in the playoff race, but it is possible this could be Wade's last game ever at American Airlines Arena. After a storied career, a proper sendoff for Wade was long expected.

The Heat will play a career retrospective video of Wade as part of the ceremony. In addition to the video, Miami will have special guests providing their own tributes to Wade. It is likely this tributes will come in-person, as well as on video. Former teammates of Wade, could feature prominently in this section of the ceremony. Wade will also address the fans and those in attendance will also have a chance at various memorabilia giveaways.

Wade's address to the fans could be the highlight of the ceremony. Wade is beloved by Heat fans and he has addressed them directly at various times over the years. Each address has been met with plenty of excitement and appreciation from the Heat fans in attendance. This address could top them all and will likely be a bittersweet moment for all. Wade will not only be thanking the fans, but he will be saying goodbye as the team moves into a new chapter.

Throughout this season, Wade has been recognized by opposing teams in various ways. Wade has exchanged jerseys with local stars as Miami toured the league on road trips. Teams have also given Wade gifts, which often were related to historic moments from his career. Miami will now have the chance to do the same, with more tributes likely to come in the future.

The Heat retired Chris Bosh's number in March and Wade figures to be the next player to receive that honor. Miami has not officially announced anything, but Wade's jersey is sure to join Bosh's in the rafters in the not too distant future. Wade will leave the NBA as Miami's record holder in a number of categories and the owner of three NBA championship rings.

With five games remaining, the Heat have a half-game lead over the Orlando Magic for the eighth and final playoff spot. The Heat sit only a game behind the sixth-seed, with the Eastern Conference battle coming down to the final days of the regular reason.

Miami's next game will be against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
