Miami Heat

Heat Squeak Past Nets in Brooklyn

The Heat held on for a 95-91 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday despite a depleted roster

The Miami Heat were short-handed on Tuesday but still came away with a 95-91 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

Going into the half, the Heat led by ten points. In the third quarter, the two teams matched one another with 21 points. In the fourth quarter, Brooklyn made a run at things and cut the deficit to only two points with under a minute to go. Miami would hold on for the victory despite missing some late free throws.

Chris Bosh missed the game with a calf strain and his status remains a question mark. Bosh could miss several more games with the lingering injury. Josh McRoberts will possibly miss the rest of the year due to a meniscus tear. Danny Granger also missed this game due to a illness. Due to this, Miami only had ten players take part in the contest.

Dwyane Wade was the unquestioned main scoring option for Miami and he did his job. Wade had 28 points, four assists and five rebounds in 36 strong minutes. The guard will continue to see the majority of scoring chances with Bosh out.

Udonis Haslem started and played 25 minutes in place of McRoberts. The veteran gave his typical full effort and should continue to see big minutes going forward.

Shawne Williams made an impact as well and he could eventually take back the starting role he had to begin the year. Williams had ten points and three assists in 19 minutes.

In his first game since returning from the D-League, Shabazz Napier played 18 minutes off the bench. The first round pick looked more like the player that started the year for Miami with 11 points. Napier was also 3-4 on his three-point attempts which was necessary since the team was 9-24 overall on treys.

The Heat will play the second part of a back-to-back on Wednesday when they return home for a game with the Utah Jazz.
