Heat Struggle From Downtown in Loss to Knicks

The Heat had some difficulty finding the basket in their 98-90 loss to the Knicks on Wednesday

The Miami Heat experienced some shooting woes in their 98-90 loss to the New York Knicks on Wednesday at AmericanAirlines Arena.

As a team, Miami shot 45 percent from the field and missed all but two of its tries from beyond the three-point line. The lackluster shooting day had the Heat lose nearly every quarter in a forgettable game. The defeat also snapped a three-game winning streak for Miami.

Miami's lone two successful three-point baskets came late in the fourth quarter when Chris Bosh and Gerald Green each drained a shot. Bosh ended up 1-4 on his tries and had 28 points overall which led the team. The veteran also contributed five rebounds and a block.

Hassan Whiteside's playing status was unclear until close to game time. The center continues to battle a sore knee, but was able to suit up and take part in the contest. Whiteside battled for 28 minutes and had eight points and eight boards.

With Whiteside's minutes limited somewhat, the Heat did not tally up as many blocks as they often do. Miami had four blocks combined and Whiteside only had one of them. Miami is averaging nearly seven blocks a game this season.

Miami's bench which has been an asset this year, did not help out much on Wednesday. Green, Justise Winslow, Beno Udrih, and Tyler Johnson combined for 17 points while seeing a relatively good amount of minutes.

The Heat will try to start a new winning streak on Friday when they travel to Phoenix for a game against the Suns.
