Heat Hold Off Raptors in Super Bowl Sunday Matinee

James scores 30, Wade 25

For a while it looked like the Miami Heat might be looking forward to the Super Bowl so much that they forgot to finish off the Toronto Raptors in an early Sunday afternoon game.

Up by as much as 15 in the fourth quarter, the Heat watched the Raptors reel off 12 straight points to get to within three in the last three minutes before a LeBron James steal and dunk set the team on the way to its 10 win in its last 12 games.

The 95-89 final score improved the Heat's record to 18-6, it's best ever start after 24 games. The Raptors fell to 8-17.

James again paced the team with 30 points and 9 rebounds, while Dwyane Wade added 25 points and Chris Bosh, playing against his former team, contributed 12 points and 8 rebounds.

For the Raptors, DeMar DeRozan scored 26 points while Jerryd Bayless and Linas Kleiza added 17 each.

The Heat is now only 1 game behind the Chicago Bulls for the best record in the Eastern Conference, with two games in hand.

Miami next plays the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the American Airlines Arena.
