Hialeah Apartment Building Residents Forced to Evacuate After Car Hits Gas Line

Residents of a Hialeah apartment building were forced to evacuate Tuesday morning after a car crashed into the building's gas line.

The vehicle crashed into an apartment building located at 6830 West 7 Ave in Hialeah early Tuesday morning.

Hialeah Police said the leak was caused when an elderly woman crashed into front of the building striking the gas service meter and shearing the pipe leading to the underground supply. Firefighters were able to stop the leak

Firefighters and police officers evacuated around 80 to 100 people from the building. No injuries were reported.

The gas and water lines are both being repaired and all residents have been allowed back into their homes.
