A Hialeah couple says they don’t know where they’ll live after learning that the house they rent is about to be condemned.
Both Lynette Rivero and her boyfriend have serious health issues.
“I'm the one with cancer, he has the triple bypass,” she said.
Between their medications, rent and the power bill, funds are very limited. Their mess of a house at 40 E. 44th St. in Hialeah creates more challenges. The kitchen is in shambles and termites are eating the home’s interior.
Rivero acknowledges that the conditions have deteriorated over the years – so much so that she and her boyfriend are basically living out of one room. As a renter, however, she hasn't been in charge of the upkeep.
Her elderly landlord, who has also been ordered out of the house, is in no position to renovate the home.
The house is set to be condemned on March 1, and the couple may have to move into their van.
