Hialeah High School Girls Softball Team Honored for Helping at Crash Scene

Members of the Hialeah High School girls softball team are being honored for helping paramedics in treating an elderly couple who were injured in a car crash.

Mayor Carlos Hernandez and the Hialeah Fire Department are presenting the Good Samaritan Award to members of the team at a ceremony at the school Friday morning.

The team was having a regular practice back on March 1 when the crash happened near the practice field. Teammates jumped into action to aid the elderly couple before help arrived.

Once paramedics arrived at the scene, the team assisted in evaluating the patients and in providing a safe environment for the paramedics.
