A South Florida man is facing charges after police say two marijuana grow labs were found in a warehouse in Medley.
Leonardo Cabrera, 35, was arrested Wednesday on multiple charges including trafficking in cannabis, grand theft, altering vehicle identification, and possession of vehicle title with intent to defraud.
According to an arrest report, Miami-Dade police were investigating the warehouse at 10663 Northwest 123rd Street and saw Cabrera leaving the warehouse. An officer approached Cabrera and could smell a strong odor of marijuana on him, the report said.
Officers obtained a search warrant and found two "fully functioning hydroponics laboratories" in the warehouse, the report said. There were 25 live marijuana plants in one and 11 in the other, weighing a total of about 55 pounds, the report said.
The labs had miscellaneous grow equipment and chemicals, the report said. There was also a "power diversion" that allowed Cabrera to steal power for the labs, the report said.
Also in the warehouse was a Ford F-250 that had an altered VIN and an ignition that had been tampered with, the report said. It turned out the truck had been stolen from Fort Lauderdale in October 2016.
Cabrera, of Hialeah, was being held on a warrant Thursday, jail records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
