Hialeah Man Attempted to Decapitate Family Dog: Police

Hialeah Police arrested a man for stabbing his family's dog late Thursday evening.

Police say the incident occurred Thursday at home located on the 800 block of east 20th street in Hialeah at around 11 p.m.

The father of 21-year-old Gabiel Jimenez, called police after his son stabbed the family dog, police say. Police located the dog in backyard of the home suffering from an apparent stab wound.

Upon further investigation, authorities say that Jimenez attempted to decapitate the dog. In fear and pain, the dog bit Jimenez's finger at which time he stabbed the dog in the back with a 7-inch kitchen knife.

Jimenez's father says the attack was unprovoked and the dog had never been aggressive to anyone.

Jimenez is charged with animal cruelty with intent to injure, kill. His bail is set at $10,000.
