Hit Man Sentenced to More Than 17 Years in Prison for Killings of Florida Millionaire Ben Novack Jr., Mother Bernice Novack

Alejandro Garcia admitted that he helped kill the Novacks in Fort Lauderdale and in Westchester County, New York

A hit man who admitted killing a Florida millionaire and his mother has been sentenced to 17½ years behind bars.

The prison term for Alejandro Garcia was well under what federal guidelines prescribed. That's because Garcia cooperated in the prosecution of the millionaire's wife, Narcy Novack.

Novack and her brother Cristobal Veliz were convicted last year of arranging the 2009 killings of Ben Novack Jr. and Bernice Novack. The siblings are serving life in prison.

Ben Novack's father built the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach.

Garcia admitted that he helped kill Ben Novack in a Westchester County, New York hotel room and Bernice Novack at her Fort Lauderdale home. Another man who was involved in their fatal beatings, Joel Gonzalez, was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He also cooperated with prosecutors.
